| During
my thirty-one years as an executive of Xerox Corporation, the
most recent as a Vice President and Director of Business Effectiveness
& Knowledge Sharing (worldwide), I learned firsthand the power
of a systematic approach to organizational excellence through
the award-winning Leadership Through Quality strategy. As a
key member of the Xerox team applying for the Malcolm Baldrige
National Quality Award in 1989 and 1992, as well as the European
Quality Award in 1992, I understand the power of these efforts.
For over seventeen years, from the beginning of the Xerox change
strategy in 1983, I lived the quality journey. |

| My
experience in change management is not limited to Xerox. I served
as a Senior Examiner for the Baldrige Award from the first year
(1988) through 1993, and continued to be associated in various
capacities, including Alumni Examiner and officer and
Treasurer of the Foundation for the Malcolm Baldrige National
Quality Award, Inc. I have also provided consultation to many organizations
on effective methods of integrating self-assessment and improvement
tools with their business strategies. |

Improvement tools such as benchmarking and assessment techniques
are positioned as key components of your planning efforts.
If
